Switch Assistance

Switch Synchronization

Switch Synchronization provides a means for periodically insuring that the internal database matches the "real world" (what actually exists in the switches).  In this process, the switch configuration is electronically pulled from the switch and stored in a NetMan database.  This database is then matched to the current database and differences are identified.  The system user may then select which items need to be updated in the NetMan database, or those that need to be updated in the switch.

One powerful use of this function is to initially populate the NetMan database.  This allows for a very short setup cycle, where the NetMan database is loaded from actual data “discovered” in the switch.

Switch Validation and Testing

Switch Validation and Testing is a function that provides an interface to a clients testing platform.  This interface can be as simple as a report of changes requiring testing, along with test numbers to dial based on a user maintained database.  This interface can also provide an electronic feed to an automated testing platform, including results feedback.  This feedback can be used to complete the online update request, completing the Job for tracking purposes.
