Virtually
all telecom managers wish that their company had a central "Golden
Repository" of Routing and Charging Expectations available to everyone in the
company through their browser. Our
experience with this product at other companies has been positive.
People from across all organizations (primarily network, billing, and
marketing) all use the application to determine answers to the following
hypothetical questions:
The answers to these questions are generally well known to a few subject-matter experts in most companies, but are rarely widely available across the Intranet. RCM gives a company the opportunity to fully document in database form all of the corporate 'rules' which govern the definition and implementation of these elements in the network. In addition, automated testing systems such as SimCall are turbo-charged by the presence of RCM. Since SimCall relies on a full and complete set of expectations, it's power is increased when it has a full-time link to the RCM application. Changes made to RCM (a capability allowed only to authorized users) are instantly available to SimCall, which can then test the successful implementation of the rules on the switch itself!
