Number Management Reports
Business Issue: All Carriers obtaining ranges of subscriber numbers must prove their adherence to the FCC
Number-Utilization Guidelines. If any
Carrier cannot prove compliant utilization, the numbers are withheld. Use of
Numbers must be reported on at the Thousand-Block increment. Six
Number-Categories and 8 Number, Sub-Categories are required for compliance.
The FCC has specific reporting requirements that must be satisfied to
prove that the Carrier needs the numbers. Periodically, the FCC requires
Numbering Audits be carried out by the North American Numbering Plan
Administrator (NANPA) to certify that Numbers are not being wasted.
CDR Applicability: LERG data can be correlated with current CDR usage data.
This would be the foundation for a stable Engineering reporting tool
that proves what numbers are active within the 6 Main Number-Categories and
8 Number Sub-Categories on a given switch/market.
This tool would provide comprehensive analysis and reporting that
satisfies FCC directives for having new ranges assigned. Reports are provided by numbers in use versus numbers assigned. Provides an authoritative database of number status. This could be used beyond the NXX-X level and report on the full ten digit number status. Additionally, historical usage data, by number could also be reported to identify how long certain numbers should be idled before re-issue. An authoritative number management system and / or service is also available.
